Glendeer Pet Farm is an award winning 12 acre open farm situated in the heart of Ireland. Glendeer provides a safe and carefree environment for children of any age.
The farm itself comprises of 6 acres and an additional 6 acres of a nature walk which was once an old mass path. The farm has over 50 species of animals but new ones are always arriving, such as Rio our yellow and blue Macaw!
An 1850′s restored cottage also provides great memories to some and an education to the younger generation.
Glendeer Farm is a fantastic day out for families, groups and school tours. It is both fun and educational and a great opportunity to interact with both farm & exotic animals. Children are provided with a bag of food to feed the goats, sheep, emu, donkeys, cows, llama and lots more animals. No matter what the weather conditions are, there is always something to do as there is a lot of facilities undercover. Visit the indoor farm pets, the indoor suspended play area and the coffee shop which all provide shelter and entertainment.
Bring along a packed lunch to enjoy a picnic or avail of our café. The staff and animals at Glendeer Farm look forward to welcoming you!

Christmas time is a special time on Glendeer Pet Farm. The team at Glendeer Pet Farm transform the whole place into Ireland’s Lapland.
When you arrive at our farm be mesmerised by the thousands of twinkling lights and festive décor. Make sure to get there on time to get a chance to see Santa arrive by horse drawn sleigh on the first day. See his real live deer Dancer & Prancer and some of his elves busy in the workshop! There is an animated snow scene & a crib with a live cow & donkey. On your way to visit Santa you will get to see all the animals including the llama, ostrich, deer, goats, emu, donkeys, sheep, monkeys and lots more animals & birds, while enjoying yuletide music which sets a magical Christmas atmosphere. You will also get the chance to meet our smaller animals that love to be cuddled and petted, like our rabbits, puppies and kittens. These are a favourite amongst our little visitors & keep them busy while they queue up to see Santa.There is also an indoor sand area with diggers & our NEW indoor Skywalk play area to keep the children entertained.
Children will get a little bag of food to feed the animals as they make their way over to visit Santa, have a chat with him & receive a gift.

Glendeer is transformed into Ireland’s Lapland for the month of December, starting with Santa’s arrival by horse drawn sleigh @ 5pm. He is here everyday with his deer Dancer and Prancer. Reflect at the crib with a live cow and donkey, soak up the magical, festive atmosphere surrounded by thousands of twinkling lights & plenty of Christmas scenes including our winter wonderland. Children get to pet & feed all the animals, but don’t forget to wrap up warm as it might even snow!!! And most importantly children will visit Santa & get a gift, so don’t forget your camera!

Cost: Adults €8 and children €16 (includes visit to Santa. Children under 18 months are free unless they want to visit Santa and get a gift, then there is a charge of €8.

You will get to feed, pet & even hold the puppies & rabbits. See how people react to the animals & see how they will make you smile with their funny animal antics.

How to get here!
From the Dublin/Longford side of Athlone
Follow the signs for Galway until you are on the M6 (Athlone by-pass). Take Exit 13(Tuam/Monksland exit), (if you miss this turn you will end up on the motorway & there are no slipways off until you reach Ballinasloe). After taking Exit 13, you come to a roundabout, take the 2nd exit (signposted Drum) and continue on to another roundabout where you take the 1st exit (Drum), just after that roundabout you take the next turn right for Drum and the farm is 2 miles (3kms) up the road on the left hand side.
From the Roscommon Road
Continue straight through the roundabout at Ganly’s Hardware Store (signposted Athlone), keep going straight until you come to a T-junction, turn right, continue until you come to a roundabout, take the 1st exit (signposted Drum) and continue on to another roundabout, take the 1st exit again (Drum), then take the next right for Drum & Glendeer Farm is 2 miles (3kms) up that road on the left.
From the Galway side of Athlone (motorway)
Head for Athlone (following Dublin signs) & take the 1st slipway off motorway signposted Exit 13 (Athlone west). Continue to the 1st roundabout take the 2nd exit (Athlone/Galway), at the 2nd roundabout take the 3rd exit (Drum) & at the 3rd roundabout take the 1st exit (Drum), after that roundabout you take the next turn right for Drum and the farm is 2 miles (3kms) up the road on the left hand side.
From the Galway side of Athlone (old Ballinasloe/Athlone road, N6)
Head for Athlone from Ballinasloe on the old road-R446, signposted Ballydangan from the round-about just outside of Ballinasloe on the Dublin/East side. Continue for about 12 miles, look out for a sign for ‘Glendeer Pet Farm next turn left’, take that left turn for Drum and the farm is 2 miles (3kms) up that road on the left hand side. (If you miss that left turn for Drum and come to roundabout you are gone too far so just go right around the roundabout and turn back onto the road you came from and take the next right turn and the farm is 2 miles up that road).
